What to Wear and Bring to the Full Moon Party
A simple checklist for the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin Beach: clothes, money, what to leave at the hotel and how to stay safe.
What to wear
- Closed shoes, not flip-flops. There can be broken glass in the sand, and flip-flops get lost in the crowd.
- Light clothes you do not mind getting dirty: neon colours and UV body paint are part of the party, and paint stations on the beach will paint you on the spot.
- Something with a zip pocket for cash and your phone.
What to bring
- Cash in Thai baht: ฿200 for entry, money for drinks and food. ATMs on Koh Phangan often run out around the full moon.
- A card with the name and address of your hotel, so a driver knows where to take you.
- A small waterproof bag for your phone and cash, useful on the speedboat too.
- If you come with our transfer: your ticket badge, it is your ticket for the boat back to Koh Samui.
What to leave at the hotel
- Your passport (take a photo or a copy instead).
- Expensive jewellery, cameras and anything you would be sad to lose.
- Bank cards you do not need that night.
Safety tips
- Stay with your friends and agree on a meeting point, for example the pier, at a fixed time.
- Drink water between buckets, the night is long and hot.
- Do not swim in the sea at night after drinking.
- Never accept drugs: Thai drug laws are very strict, and police are present at the party.
- Watch your drink and do not leave it unattended.
- Plan your way home before the party. From Koh Samui, a round trip transfer brings you back on boats every hour from 0:00 to 6:00.
