Staying on Koh Samui? Here is how to get to the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan by speedboat and back the same night.
Why go by speedboat
The Full Moon Party takes place on Haad Rin Beach on Koh Phangan, the island next to Koh Samui. If you are staying on Koh Samui, a speedboat is the fastest way to get there. Regular ferries stop running in the early evening and arrive at Thong Sala on the other side of Koh Phangan, while a speedboat takes you straight to Haad Rin, a few minutes walk from the party.
Step by step
- Book a transfer online and choose your pickup time. Booking is free, you pay in cash at the pier.
- A minivan picks you up at your hotel or villa in any area of Koh Samui and takes you to Bangrak pier (Big Buddha area).
- At the pier you pay, get your ticket and wait for your boat in the seating area.
- The speedboat takes 20-30 minutes to Haad Rin pier, depending on the sea. Every passenger gets a life jacket.
- Walk a few minutes to the beach, pay the 200 baht entry and enjoy the party.
- When you are ready, go back to Haad Rin pier and take the next boat to Koh Samui. Boats leave every hour from 0:00 to 6:00, and a minivan drives you from the pier to your hotel.

Boats back to Koh Samui leave Haad Rin pier every hour from 0:00 to 6:00. On the New Year party (31 December) the last pickup is 20:00 - 20:30 and the last boat to Koh Phangan leaves at 21:00.
Book in advance
The party happens once a month, and on the party night the speedboats fill up quickly. Book a few days in advance to get the pickup time you want, and check the Full Moon Party dates first.
Prices
One way ฿890, round trip ฿1290 per person, including hotel pickup and drop-off. On the New Year party ฿1190 / ฿1490. The 200 baht party entry is paid separately at the beach.
